i can answer the jellyfish part. ok about 15 years ago a russian frieghter accidentally infected the bay with jellyfish. these russian jellyfish rally groove on brakish water. hence our having a ton of them in the petaluma river.
a lagoon is brakish water. it only takes a two jellyfish to wash into said lagoon during a flood or extra high tide. after that they breed like rabbits.
if these are indeed the same kind of jellyfish the range from about the width of a quarter to the width of a half dollar. in lentgh the get to be about 6 inches long on the large side. they are also kinda white-ish.
if it's not those jellyfish then well the flood, brakish water rule still apply to the bays species of jellyfish. mostly i think because it's warmer toward the shores, and their is more sea life they will eat in the tidal pools etc.
