if this is the first time you have ever worked faire, you will want to take classes. there are workshops starting on august 11th. my boss (for the box office) will not be on site until august 18th. that is the day she will be taking applications. i'm not 100% sure that you *need* to take classes to work box, but it's a good idea just to take the basics, and if you get them done early...you're done! at any rate...my suggestion is this: if you would like to go down on august 11th and take a couple of classes, that's good for you. please check out the faire website for more information on workshops. on august 18th, you will need to be there to fill out an application and speak with virginia. i plan to be there early on the 18th. prolly like 10am or so. to make things go smooth...please bring with you 2 copies of your drivers license and social security card in case you are hired on the spot, and your resume (or something that shows what you know). i'm not 100% sure that i'll be sleeping there that night, but it might be a possibility. right now everything is up in the air until i hear more from V.

so...to sum up...be there on the 11th of august if you want to start workshops.
be there on the 18th for application day with your resume & 2 copies of your ID information
if you want to bring your costuming with you that weekend, you can...although there's no reason to until you're officially hired.

thanks for wanting to help out!

i know huh? that's one of the reasons i wish there was more to faire than just 6 weeks of hell. i'd take 6 months if that's what they would give me.

see you on the 11th? or the 18th?

hmmm i think perhaps you'll need to take the newbie class...and the 700 other classes they have. can you fit it all in to one day?

HAHAHAHA

I don't know if I'll be up for it yet, but I may well be interested.

I think my costume would even be considered acceptable.

I wonder if my bodice still fits.

PS... I have very little accounting/cashiering experience. I do have some, but it's not extensive. Dunno how much that affects working box office.

Well, I've done reg, but not normally one of the people handling money. Except counting out.

yes your costume is exactly right. as for the money handling...if you can take the money, give change and hand out a ticket that's pretty much all you need to be able to do. our ticket price this year is $25, so if someone gives you $40 you would need to be able to make change from it.
